Exploring Jaipur’s Largest Flower Market (Pink City)

The Jaipur Flower Market is located in the heart of the old city, near Govind Dev Ji Temple. The best time to visit is early morning, around sunrise, when the market is at its most vibrant and alive.

It is one of the largest wholesale flower and vegetable markets in the region. A walk through this colorful bazaar takes about an hour. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and carry a water bottle.

What makes this market truly special is the freshness of the produce. There are no cold storage facilities or refrigeration—everything comes directly from farms to vendors every single day.

Today, I will take you through one of the biggest wholesale flower markets in Jaipur. As we explore, you will experience a wide variety of flowers such as roses, marigolds, lilies, jasmine, lotus, orchids, and even tulips. These flowers are brought from farms located within a radius of 60 to 80 kilometers, where cultivation is dedicated specifically to flower trading.

These flowers serve many purposes—offerings in temples, religious rituals, weddings, and decorations for hotels and events. A large portion is purchased by wedding planners and hoteliers, while some are bought by locals for daily use.

Right next to the flower market, you will often find a bustling vegetable market. Vegetables arrive here from different parts of India—some locally grown, but many transported from distant regions. Most of them are seasonal. Retail vendors buy in bulk here and then sell in residential neighborhoods. Almost every household has its preferred vegetable vendor.

One of the most interesting aspects of these markets is the price-setting system, similar to a stock exchange. Prices are fixed and non-negotiable. These are wholesale markets, so transactions happen in bulk quantities. Most of the trading is done in cash, and many traders have long-standing relationships with fixed buyers.

Walking through the old city towards this fresh and vibrant flower and vegetable market is truly an amazing experience.
